Recovering From Distraction

I received a copy of the new book from Hands Free Mama for review which is available on Amazon through the affiliate link provided.

Has your child ever asked you to put your phone away? Or to get off the computer?

Mine has. I don’t like it especially since I work from home so there are times I must be on either one of those. But…

It’s taken awhile to realize this.. or at least to admit it. It’s so very hard to admit that my life is getting swallowed up by distractions, but it is. So with the support and guidance from this new book–Hands Free Mama: A Guide to Putting Down the Phone, Burning the To-Do List and Letting Go of Perfection to Grasp What Really Matters! by Rachel Macy Stafford–I’m working to make real changes to manage those distractions.

It’s like a 12-step recovery program for distracted people and the first step was realizing that I let too many distractions enter my life.

It’s pretty easy to get caught up in them when we are constantly bombarded with information, opinions, judgements, entertainment and technology. I want to enjoy my life and those around me as well as enjoy the “extras” from my tech… not get overwhelmed and stressed out by them. And one of the things that triggers anger and frustration for me seems to be external pressures…which include distractions.

Read my initial impressions of the Hands Free Mama book on BabyZone.

Is this something you struggle with too?

Sadly, it because the kids want so much of my attention that I retreat into the computer, screen or phone lol

I see myself doing that too. I feel like such a contradiction sometimes!
