Planning ahead can easily make Christmas shopping easy to manage. Our tips are perfect for making your holiday season affordable and a ton easier to manage with minimal stress. Check out these tips to streamline the holiday shopping process.
Make A Master Christmas Shopping List
One way to save yourself money and to lower holiday stress at the same time is to make a list. Most people already do this, but what they write down are the things that they plan to buy as gifts. Christmas shopping is a lot easier when you have a list and can work through it a gift at a time. Not only do you need to account for gifts on this list, but also things like decorations, stocking stuffers, food, supplies for hosting parties, and even things like scissors, tape, and wrapping paper.
Don’t forget to add all the gifts for your friends, family, teachers, instructors, and coworkers to this list as well. When you have everything detailed, it will make it a lot easier to manage. Below are some tips to make this easier to manage.
- Create one list of all the people you will be giving gifts to this year. This should include family, friends, neighbors, teachers assistants, and others that you interact with regularly.
- Break down this list by importance so if your budget runs low, you are easily able to remove people as needed. (Family first then so on as needed).
- Put gift ideas by each name.
- Break down the gift ideas by combining like items and making a master list from there. {5 scarves, 2 blue, 3 red, etc.}
Make a Budget for Your Shopping
We all want to give gifts to everyone in our life, but a budget has to come into play. If you are on a budget or have limited finances, use the method above to prioritize who will receive gifts. For those further down the list after your budget is gone, consider making homemade gift items instead.
One thing to consider when making a budget for your Christmas shopping is to avoid getting into debt. Utilize only known funds you have on hand to use currently and avoid using credit cards or lines of credit that could create more expenses later down the road.
Map Out Special Sales Days and Times
Black Friday sales are a huge shopping day for many, but you will want to map out your shopping days around the best sales and times you have available. Consider online shopping days like Cyber Monday as well when you are calculating what to do and where to go.
Divide Your List Between Offline and Online Opportunities
One of my favorite Christmas shopping savings tips is to utilize online as much as possible. Amazon Prime is by far, one of our favorite options to use during the holiday season since it offers free 2nd-day shipping. Amazon, Kohl’s, Target, Walmart, and Sears are some of my favorite places to shop online. Many times, this saves tons of money, but mostly your time and frustration.
Use these simple Christmas shopping savings tips to really make your holiday shopping plans easier to manage. Sort, separate, and budget to make this year easy to manage as the holidays arrive!
