Overhead view of supplies for July felt wreath craft. Squares of light blue, red, red with white polka dots, white, and dark blue felt, wooden embroidery hoop, and scissors laying on top of the felt.

Next cut your felt sheets into strips around 8-9 inches long. If you are sorting through felt scraps, look for pieces that are long enough.

Strips about 1 inch wide are good, but you can also cut strips with width larger and smaller too.

Piles of dark blue, light blue, white, red with white dots, and red felt strips with pair of scissors laying on top.

For the 10 inch hoop you will need approximately 100 felt strips. If you use a bigger or smaller hoop, you’ll need to adjust the number of strips used.

Then begin tying the felt strips around the embroidery hoop using double knots. Add strips in a red, white, and blue pattern or at random.

This wreath would also be fun to do in a color blocked or flag order. You could also add a few ribbon strips throughout if you wanted.

Continue tying strips of felt, working around the entire hoop, pushing the strips together to get as many tied on as possible. The more felt strips tied onto the hoop the fluffier your wreath will be.
