I have to admit I’m pretty lucky. My daughter is usually quite good when we go out to eat. Well, good as in well behaved. She doesn’t necessarily eat well when we go to a restaurant. It’s kind of nice, but sometimes I wish it wasn’t so easy… maybe that would help us actually stick to our plan of eating out less. (We have cut down, but still… knowing she’s not going to cause a scene makes it easier to go.)
We don’t usually consult Rissa when deciding where to go though I often try to think about what she is willing to eat. A few restaurants I love going to are rare treats since I know there’s little to nothing I can order for her or share with her. If we let her pick, she’d totally pick McDonald’s though.
I know, I know, that’s not the best place to take a toddler to eat. Despite some of my other choices, fast food and processed foods have been hard for me to kick. She loves McDonald’s though, or as she calls it, “The Big M.”
No lie. When we pull up she gets excited and exclaims, “The Big M! Big M!” She’s been done in by logo advertising at a very young age.
When we are at The Big M, if you ask her what she wants her order is always the same, “Chocolate milk! Chicken fry.”
The girl loves chicken nuggets, french fries, and chocolate milk. She eats almost half of her Happy Meal everytime, including a few apple slices. (Though she kind of turns her nose up at the packaged ones… she prefers fresh apples.) Rissa likes getting a toy too, but doesn’t quite equate that with going… yet. Sometimes we skip buying her a Happy Meal and she just shares one of our McNugget meals.
If she’s lucky, one of the local places gives a free soft serve cone ticket with their Happy Meals. She loves to get that “treat” too!
What is it about McDonald’s that makes kids love it so much? I mean, I know I love their fries…

My son loves the toy! My 9 year old doesn't care as much for their nuggets at another fastfood place. I on the other hand LOVE Chicken McNuggets. So he picks "The Big M" (love that by the way) mainly for toy.
Daughter who is 4 calls is "NickDonalds", and she love the play area and geting apples. We have to pay extra for apples at some places so I like that it's included (the boy would rather have more fries). She is thrilled to get both.
Oh yeah if she can have ice cream she's all about that. I get my Peppermint Mocha they have now..super yum!

I am not sure what it is about that restaurant. (How cute that she calls it The Big M.) The packaging and the toys are pretty appealing to children, I think. And of course, French fries.
