This slow cooker apple cider recipe tastes like fall in a mug. It’s my favorite time of year! Apples, colorful leaves, pumpkins, Halloween, and cozy slow cooker recipes come to mind. This crisp and refreshing drink takes the apple cider I know and love and adds a little zip to it.
Plus, it is easy to make while you are doing other things, like raking leaves with the kids.
Almost every year we throw my daughter a Halloween birthday party. Sometimes I make a party punch, but this year I want something that fits the flavors of the season better. This drink recipe is for kids and adults and is a great alternative to serving soda. The sparkling water makes this cider fizzy with bubbles.

Ingredients
- 5 Red apples, halved
- 2 Oranges, halved
- 3 Cinnamon sticks
- 3 Cloves
- 8 Cups water
- ½ Cup brown sugar
- 4 Cups sparkling water (Either purchase sparkling water or make your own with a SodaStream and tap water.)
- Apple slices and orange slices to decorate
Directions
Add the apples, oranges, cinnamon, cloves, brown sugar, and water into your slow cooker. Do not add the sparkling water yet.
Cook on high for 5 hours. With the help of a potato masher, mash the fruit until soft.
Use cheesecloth to strain the apple cider into a tall pitcher.
Add the sparkling water and the apple and orange slices.
If you don’t want to make your apple cider bubbly, skip the sparkling water and add the equivalent in water to the crock pot. (So a total of 12 cups of water in your crock pot instead of 8 cups.)
Pour into glasses, serve and enjoy!
